Biography

Dr. Andrew Moss trained as a Clinical Psychologist in the U.K. He attained his Bachelor of Arts Honours degree in Psychology (B.A. Honours), at the University of Keele in 1995, and his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy), at the University of Wales, Bangor in 2001.

He was trained in the specialities of children and adolescents, adults, seniors, developmental disabilities and health psychology. Post qualification, Dr. Moss worked in the U.K.’s National Health Service for 8 years, developing his practice around adults with mental health difficulties and also individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities.

Dr. Moss draws from a range of theoretical models and therapeutic modalities, including cognitive therapy, behaviour therapy, systemic therapy and the psychodynamic therapies. He undertook further post-doctoral training in Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT), and is a qualified practitioner. (ACAT).  Since emigrating to Canada, Dr. Moss has trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy, which is a highly flexible and effective therapy for couples, families and individuals.  He has also trained in Eye Movement Integration (EMI) and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), both of which have been found to be highly effective in trauma focused work.

Dr. Moss’s approach to therapy is one of non-judgement, warmth and compassion, working to empower the client to overcome their specific difficulties and helping them to develop resilience for any future challenges.  He is experienced in working with individuals of diverse life perspectives, identities and backgrounds, and offers a range of approaches to best fit each individual client.

Dr. Moss is a licensed Psychologist, under the College of Psychologist of Ontario, and a registered Clinical Psychologist under the Health and Care Professions Council in the U.K., authorized to practice Psychology across the age range in Ontario and the U.K. He is also a member of the Canadian Psychological Association.
